United States: Volkswagen’s Tennessee workers reject UAW but plan to set up works council still on

It’s the end of the United Auto Workers’ big plans in Volkswagen’s Chattanooga plant, Tennessee.  At the end of voting on Friday, the employees voted against joining the union in a vote of 712 to 626, i.e. more than 53 percent for a high turnout – 89 percent.  However, the plant’s management still wants to set up a works council.
