Poland: companies increasingly commit to a CSR approach/more actively involved in CSR

The Responsible Business Forum think tank comprising from large company senior executives has just published its ‘Responsible Business in Poland. Good Practices 2017’ report, which reviews 1,190 good CSR-related business practices. The annual report is the largest CSR best practices compilation in Poland and for the 2017 edition 177 companies took part, 50 of which were SMEs. The number of good CSR practices has risen by 330, demonstrating companies’ deepening engagement. The Forum checked all the 1,190 good practices and classed them according to seven separate ISO 26000 domains. Some of the initiatives described in the report are outlined below.

Ethics. The report featured several initiatives treating conflicts of interest and transparency regulations. Logistics group DB Schenker has developed a ‘Fair Play’ ethics training program, which plays out as a game between 5 people who learn the company’s anti-corruption policy, identify conflicts of interest, and how to adopt the appropriate behavior in the face of competition. Pharmaceutical group, Polpharma has introduced a conflict of interest management procedure for its staff. The procedure sets out the circumstances surrounding conflicts of interests as well as the appropriate behavior to adopt. Banking group BGZ BNP Paribas has a special process to monitor financial transactions that take social, economic, and environmental aspects into account.
