With its project of volunteer work as an alternative to short-time working, Alessi, the Italian SME, invents a new model of corporate volunteer working time

Extremely positive results for the project, “Good work – the factory for the city,” launched by Alessi on June 24 in Omegna (Verbania), Piedmont,” where the famous “Italian Design Factory” has its headquarters.  Completed on November 30, this project has opened a new path in corporate social responsibility in Italy with a new system of “corporate volunteer work” as an alternative to short-time working, allocating temporarily surplus staff, on a voluntary basis, to socially useful work for the town paid by the company under usual remuneration.  The CEO’s daughter, Nicoletta Alessi, who developed and monitored the project with her company, Goodpoint, and Tiziana Stoppini, Fiom-CGIL union representative (majority union in the company), are explaining its key elements to Planet Labor.  (Ref.  130770)
