The study by the European Trade Union Confederation, unveiled on Monday 30 August, highlights the advantages that European workers can enjoy as a result of collective bargaining. In 13 European countries – two of which are outside the EU – the law allows for negotiations to take place over additional holiday. For example, while employees in Germany and Croatia have only 20 days’ holiday per year by law, they get an extra 10 days through collective agreements.
