Belgium: Belfius the bank and insurance company tries out “working differently”

From June 01 and for a maximum of six months a volunteer group of Belfius staff will try out working flexible hours outside of their current working arrangements. The company has already designed better work life balance policies where today an employee works on average two days from home per month. Unions have agreed to this new experiment, but given that staff are currently experiencing a significant drop in their numbers as well as a significant rise in overtime hours (+12%) they have promised to monitor the results very closely indeed.

Belfius is active in banking and insurance and currently employs approximately 70,000 staff. It is a State owned institution following the 2012 liquidation of Dexia.
