Germany: napping at work is gradually growing

SAP, BMW, Lufthansa, BASF, Vaillant…, a growing number of German businesses are arranging “resting areas” for their employees.  But they’re doing it almost in secret because the issue is still taboo.  Specialists say mindsets are slowly changing.  (Ref.  130291)

“Resting rooms” against stress.  In the Customer Service center of the Vaillant heating company in Gelsenkirchen, employees have two rooms if they want to rest after lunch.  They are called “silent rooms” and are equipped with a comfortable deck chair.  The entry has shelves where employees can put pillows, sheets or towels.  Nearly 1 in 5 employees (out of 75 working in the landscape office at the service center) take a short nap every day. …
