Germany: the Versicherungskammer insurance group converts to ‘Smart Working’

Germany's 9th largest insurer has seized the opportunity presented by the Covid-19 pandemic to transform what had previously been a relatively traditional plan, aimed at making its working methods and structures more professional, into a smart working revolution. Katja Gerke, who heads the newly created Department for Organizational Development, answered Planet Labor's questions on the changes and outlined the ongoing process.

Munich-based Versicherungskammer, is Germany’s ninth largest primary insurer and its largest public insurer. Founded in 1811, the  Bavarian company is controlled by the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. Since the liberalization of the European insurance sector in 1994, the company has diversified both in terms of sector and geographical cover, particularly in the Palatinate, Berlin, and Brandenburg, as well as in Saarland.
