Italy: Michelin’s subsidiary innovates on agile work and the right to disconnect

‘Smart workers’ at Michelin Italy will be able to work remotely for up to 60% of their working time, and will benefit from a strictly organised right to disconnect. In addition, and on a one year trial basis ,all employees at the tyre manufacturer will be able to work without having to log their starting and finishing times. These are the key points of an agreement putting a post-pandemic hybrid work organisation in place that was signed on 07 January 2022 by the management of the French multinational’s Italian subsidiary and the Filctem-Cgil, Femca-Cisl and Uiltec trade unions.

The agreement’s preamble states, ‘the aim is to achieve the best possible balance between private and professional life,’ while still taking account of the fact that ‘socialisation in the workplace continues to be essential.’ Employees who choose smart working on a voluntary basis will be able to work remotely for up to 60% of their working time.…
