Italy: Court of Turin confirms the validity of the separate agreements of Pomigliano d’Arco but recognizes Fiat’s antiunion behavior towards the Fiom

“What’s important is that Fiat was condemned for antiunion behavior” Maurizio Landini, Fiom leader, pointed out when commenting the verdict rendered on July 16th by labor court of Turin, by Judge Vincenzo Ciocchetti (who was the first Italian judge to condemn an employer for moral harassment in 1999), following the appeal lodged by the CGIL’s metalworkers’ union. After a 7-hour hearing, the verdict legitimizes the collective agreement of Fiat Spa’s newco for the Pomigliano d’Arco site, signed on December 29th (see our dispatch No.  110011) by the group’s management and the national and territorial organizations of the Fim-Cisl, Uilm-Uil and Fismic unions as well as the UGL, the association of Fiat executives and managers.  It also validates the local collective agreement of February 17th (see our dispatch No.  110027), signed by Fabbrica Italia Pomigliano Spa and the territorial organizations of the same unions.
