Italy: first ever national collective agreement covering delivery riders signed between Assodelivery and UGL

On 16 September, the employers’ organisation Assodelivery, which includes the main food delivery platforms (Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Glovo, Just Eat and more), and the ‘Unione Generale del Lavoro’ (UGL) trade union signed Italy’s first ever collective agreement on the gig economy. The three nationally representative unions (CGIL, CISL, UIL) denounce the agreement, which does not deal with the real problems according to them.

The agreement intends for a minimum hourly salary of €10 (only actual delivery times are taken into account) along with allowances of 10%, 15% and 20% for work situations that cover variously, night shifts, work during bank holidays, bad weather. Furthermore, riders will be entitled of an additional incentive of €7 per hour in the case of lack of job offers within the first 4 months of the start of service in a new city as well as an extra bonus of €600 for every 2,000 successful deliveries.…
