Italy: Milanese retail sector social partners agree on more flexible rules for recourse to temporary employment contracts

On 06 November, the territorial agreement called ‘Milan a tourist city’ (Milano città turistica) was signed. It allows more workers to be hired on temporary employment contracts during certain periods in the year by way of a derogation from the Dignity Decree law that more strictly frames this type of employment contract (c.f. article No. 10787).

Signed by the Milanese branches of the employers’ organization Confcommerico, and the trade unions, Filcams-Cgil, Fisascat-Cisl and Uiltucs, the agreement allows longer time frames for the duration, renewal and extension of temporary employment contracts without specific grounds for up to 36 months (compared with a maximum of 12 months for the standard system).…
