Nokia: the EMF denounced violations of the directive on EWCs

European trade unions immediately reacted when the giant Finnish phone company announced, on January 16, the closure of one of its German sites. The European Metalworkers' Federation (EMF) denounced the "lateness with which its EWC was informed of this restructuring" and declared that it intended on examining this from a legal point of view and, should the need arise, Nokia will have to be prepared for court proceedings. The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) says this case "shows the importance of urgently reviewing the EWC Directive". (Ref. 080042)
