Czech Republic : new sickness insurance system has been drafted

The sickness insurance system in the Czech Republic should be reformed within one year. The draft bill that was approved by the Lower Chamber of Czech Parliament should replace the current legislation that has been in force since 1956 and introduce major changes. (Ref 0644)

The main principles of a new system are uniformity (it should be the same for employers as well as for self-employed entrepreneurs), fairness (it should more reflect on the income of the individual), resistant against abuse (high penalties for violations) and financial neutrality (meaning it shouldn’t be a burden on the state budget; the amount of money that goes in should go out of the system).…
