Denmark: the government proposes a major overhaul of social protection

After several months of examination and animated debates on the 49 proposals of the Commission on wellbeing, which had been prepared by 9 specialists during 2 years, the Danish government (liberal conservative) is due to reveal its position on the reforms which it will undertake in the coming months. Announced by the Prime Minister at the beginning of April, the government considers that it is necessary to raise the retirement age and to better check unemployed people, in order to guarantee the lasting quality of the Danish system of social protection for the 20 years to come.…
