Great Britain: labour inspections at their lowest level

The number of labourinspections fell by a quarter, from 74 000 to 55 000, between 2002/03 and 2004/05, according to figures of the Labour inspectorate revealed in the newspaper Hazards, a quarterly publication of the TUC specialized in work risks. (Réf. 06617)

The article shows that companies are not only less and less likely to be inspected (once every 13 years), but also less and less likely of being taken to court in the event of accidents: the number of lawsuits submitted by the labour inspectorate decreased from 960 to 712 between 2003/04 and 2004/05.…
