Argentina: initial measures limiting the freedom of movement plus recommendations to work remotely

Maximum effort to avoid the virus spreading during the initial development stages. On 16 March Argentina announced a series of measures aimed at avoiding the scenarios being experienced in Europe. As of 16 March, Argentina had ‘only’ 65 confirmed cases and 2 mortalities and the following day the nation implemented a series of drastic and rapid measures on top of border closures that came into force on 15 March, school closures since the weekend, and the implementation of extraordinary paid leave for employees returning to Argentina from a country exposed to Covid-19 (c.f. article No. 11709).

“Given the circumstances it is right to prescribe measures necessary for reducing the movement of people using public transport and at work, without at the same time negatively impacting production or the supply of necessary goods and services (…),” noted the resolution.
