Netherlands : government is to open the labour market to Eastern Europe

On March 31, the Dutch authorities announced that any restriction on immigration of the nationals of the eight new Member States of the European Union will be raised on January 1, 2007. (Ref. 06321)

From this date, the Estonians, Hungarians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Poles, Czechs, Slovaks and Slovenians who already account for half of the 91 000 migrants in the Netherlands in 2005, will not need a work permit any longer to have their papers in order.…
