Sweden: agreement in the temporary work sector strengthens the Swedish model

On April 29 an agreement was signed between the LO confederation and the employers’ body Almega Bemmanningsföretagen (staffing agency employers federation). The one-year agreement covering some 30,000 workers sees to the continuance of the winning Swedish model that combines security and flexibility while enabling industry to be competitive and to maintain quality employment.

An agreement including guarantees for temporary workers. The agreement secures its dual flexibility-security goal by defining the rights and obligations of temporary workers. Special attention has been given to pay conditions and LO is satisfied with the 3% minimum wage rise (this is the pay workers receive in between missions). From May 01 workers’ minimum pay moves from 100 SEK an hour (10.81€) to 103 SEK (11.13€).

The agreement reaffirms the principle of equal working conditions (that apply in the company where workers are temporarily placed) between temporary and permanent staff.…
